Let Me Be

Let me be.
Let me sit amongst the ruin of time,
my home built of ash and agony.

Let me drown
deep in this undertow of sorrow,
the dark fathoms
quell my fears.

Let me sleep.
My demons are the blanket
that shrouds me in
the black of night.

Let me breath.
Let me take in what was once
delicate and beautiful
and exhale its demise.

Let me feel
the bitter turn of an endless winter,
my body's numbness
is warmth to my soul.

Let me be
lost in this void of the unknown,
for it is here
that I will remain unscathed.
