Since the birth of the Academy’s graduate program in 1977, graduate candidates have presented the culmination of their thesis work at the end of every semester. These reviews take place before a panel comprised of the candidate’s department director, instructors and if appropriate industry representatives.
This final review is the result of a graduate candidate building their core skill set and presenting a midpoint proposal that defines the process and eventual result of their thesis work. Once a graduate candidate’s midpoint proposal is approved they move into directed study, where they work in a one on one relationship with an advisor while they complete their thesis work leading to their Final Presentation.
We have created the following thesis galleries to offer a glimpse of outstanding thesis work from some recent Academy graduates. We’ve also included interviews with the graduates discussing their work and their experience as graduate students at the Academy of Art University.
